WINTER WILD

SIDESPACE GALLERY, SALAMANCA ARTS CENTRE 15-27 JUNE 2023

"Immerse yourself in the beauty of winter seas, with this latest collection of seascape paintings. A must-see exhibition for art lovers."

The Sidespace Gallery at Salamanca Arts Centre is proud to present Winter Wild, a new exhibition of abstract seascape paintings by Fine Artist Hannah Blackmore. Running from June 15th to June 27th, the exhibition showcases textured paintings that capture the moods of the Tasmanian coastline.

"My work focuses on the interplay of light and texture, as I seek to capture the ever-changing moods of the ocean. Drawing on my experiences along the Tasmanian coastline, my paintings convey a sense of energy, movement, and natural beauty.

I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to share my work with the Hobart community. The Tasmanian coastline has been a huge inspiration for me, and I hope my paintings capture some of the wild and unpredictable beauty of this incredible landscape. Winter Wild is a celebration of the natural world and the wonder of the ocean, and I hope it will inspire viewers to connect with the beauty of the Tasmanian coastline.”

Winter Wild is a must-see exhibition for art lovers, nature enthusiasts, and anyone interested in exploring the intersection of light and texture. The exhibition is open to the public from 10am to 4pm daily.

You can download more information about the exhibition below, and please get in touch if you have any questions. Thank you and I hope you enjoy my work.

A WINTER WALK

Walking along the beach alone in the winter can be a majestic experience. While it may not be a typical beach day with sunshine, there's something special about the tranquillity of the winter shoreline.

As you step onto the sand, notice the sound of the waves crashing against the shore is more pronounced, the air is crisp, and the beach is mostly deserted, giving you a sense of solitude and serenity. The cold, crisp air may take some getting used to, but with the right clothing, it's refreshing and invigorating.

As you begin your walk, take a moment to appreciate the beauty of your surroundings. The winter beach can be just as stunning as in the summertime, with the waves taking on a different hue and the absence of people creating a sense of vastness and openness.

The winter beach also reveals new treasures. With fewer people around, you may have a better chance of spotting seashells, stones, or even driftwood that have washed up on the shore. You can take a closer look and appreciate the intricate patterns and shapes of the shells and the smoothness of the stones.

As you walk, notice the seagulls are quieter and seem to be taking a break from their summer squawks. Instead, they are gliding in the sky, taking in the same peacefulness as you are. The winter beach is also an ideal place to spot seabirds that migrate south for the winter.

Walking along the winter beach can also provide a sense of introspection and reflection. The solitude and tranquillity can give you a chance to clear your head, reflect on your thoughts and feelings, and appreciate the beauty of the moment.

While walking along the beach alone in the winter may not be for everyone, it can be a unique experience for those who appreciate the beauty of nature in all its forms. So, next time you have the opportunity, bundle up, grab your coat and hat, and take a winter walk along the shore. You may be surprised at the calm and beauty that surrounds you.
